A fascinating Twitter graphic has named the 20 best dribblers in the Champions League since 2009.

The graphic, which has ranked the top 20 based upon each player’s successful dribble percentage, has unsurprisingly included several high-profile names.

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo both feature – although the pair don’t fare as well as one might initially think.

Whilst Kylian Mbappe, Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling also rank amongst Europe's most efficient and devastating dribblers.

However, despite the lofty reputations of many stars that find a home in the list, none are able to usurp the three central midfielders that occupy the podium places.

The gold medal winner even boasts a miraculous record of completing 79 of his 97 dribbles in the competition, giving him an overall completion rate of 81.4%.

The 20 best dribblers in the Champions League (2009 onwards)

Cristiano Ronaldo: 244 completed with a 58.8% success rate16. Philippe Coutinho: 76 completed with a 58.9% success rate15. Gareth Bale: 129 completed with a 59.4% success rate 14. Both Messi and Ronaldo fail to breach the top 10 in this ranking then - what a rarity.

However, Messi's total of 563 completed dribbles is more than double, nearly triple any other player compared here, which is pretty mind-boggling.

10. Lucas Moura: 154 completed with a 63.1% success rate 9. Isco: 160 completed with a 63.5% success rate 8. Yacine Brahimi: 165 completed with a 65% success rate 7. Kevin De Bruyne: 77 completed with a 66.4% success rate6. Julian Draxler: 92 completed with a 68.1% success rate 5. Luka Modric: 143 completed with a 68.8% success rate 4. Eden Hazard: 221 completed with a 70.6% success rate 3. Thiago Alcantara: 116 completed with a 71.2% success rate2. Marco Verratti: 109 completed with a 76.2% success rate 1. Yaya Toure: 79 dribbles completed with an 81.4% success rate

It's potentially quite telling that, given how many central midfielders made the top 10, the level of difficulty to complete a successful solo dribble is considerably less than it is further up the pitch.

So, bare that in mind when considering these rankings. But nevertheless, Toure was very much a box-to-box midfielder that loved to play higher up the pitch and his stats are a joke.

Hazard's success rate of over 70% is also mightily impressive given the amount of attention he usually draws from opposition players.
