How can anyone not appreciate the legend that is Lionel Messi?

Late in the first half of Saturday’s 3-1 win over Rayo Vallecano, Messi displayed another fine act of fair play just minutes after he delivered a peach of a cross to Gerard Piqué for the equalising goal.

In the 42nd minute, Messi weaved in and out of the Rayo defence before going down in the box after some contact from a defender.

Just as the referee was beginning to speak to the VAR, Messi signaled that it was not a penalty and to carry on.

The official gave both sides a thumbs up and play resumed.

In possibly a showcase of karma, Barcelona were rightly awarded a penalty just after the half-time intermission.

Messi would convert en route to another win. Class act.
