On June 22, 2022, Sadio Mane joined Bayern Munich in a £35m move from Liverpool.
The Senegalese international was given a substantial pay-rise.
He was believed to be earning ‘just’ £100,000-per-week at Liverpool. Bayern are now paying him £250,000-per-week, per the Mirror.
That made him the highest-paid African footballer in the world.
He didn’t hold that title for long, though.
Just nine days after Mane joined Bayern, Mohamed Salah signed a lucrative three-year deal at Liverpool.
Per the Daily Mail, The Egyptian winger is now earning £400,000-per-week at the Premier League giants, considerably more than what Mane is earning at Bayern.
Salah is the world’s best-paid African player once again, but who are the best paid players in every continent? We have answered that question using a variety of sources.
For obvious reasons, Antarctica has been omitted.
Oceania: Chris Wood | Newcastle | £80,000-per-week (Per Capology)

Africa: Mohamed Salah | Liverpool | £400,000-per-week (Per the Daily Mail)
There were concerns that Salah would not extend his spell at Liverpool and leave on a free transfer in 2023. Much to the relief of Liverpool fans all over the world, the two parties were able to agree a huge three-year deal.
South America: Lionel Messi | Paris Saint-Germain | £960,000-per-week (Per the Daily Mail)
Paris Saint-Germain handed Messi a massive deal when he joined on a free transfer in 2021. He earns just over £350,000-per-week more than teammate, Neymar.
Mbappe became the highest-paid footballer in the world when he rejected Real Madrid and signed a new contract with PSG in May. He earns considerably more than football legend Cristiano Ronaldo, who is paid £510,000-per-week, per Spotrac.
