Argentina and Colombia met in the 2024 Copa América final on Sunday, and the World Cup winners suffered a huge blow before lifting the trophy.

Argentina were left holding their breath in the first half when Lionel Messi collided with Santiago Arias, and the captain was seen rolling around the pitch in pain.

He appeared seriously distraught and hobbled along before ultimately re-entering the pitch for the second 45 minutes, but it didn't last long.

Messi was forced to leave the pitch around the hour mark in tears. Ice was later heavily tapped around his ankle.

Once he unwrapped it, cameras showed it was seriously enlarged due to swelling.

This will be a significant injury to watch for Major League Soccer side Inter Miami.
