Life in Ligue 1 hasn’t started too quickly for Lionel Messi but he still feels right at home in the Champions League.
The Argentine is making his fifth appearance of this season’s group stage on Tuesday, and he has scored his fourth Champions League goal of the season right before half-time.
It was a Messi classic, the ball bent perfectly into the far corner, but even he still experiences the odd first: he had never scored against Club Brugge before tonight.
And he equalled a Cristiano Ronaldo record in the process.
Unfortunately for the Portuguese, he won’t be able to reclaim that as a sole record when Manchester United face Young Boys on Wednesday, having netted against them already this season.
