Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are potentially meeting on a football pitch for the last time … and it took just three minutes for the Argentinian to leave his mark.

The PSG forward raced on to a through ball by Neymar before lofting it past the Riyadh XI goalkeeper and into the bottom corner.

There was no sign of any post-World Cup rustiness as the 35-year-old dropped the ball into the back of the net.

But as inevitable as it was always going to be, Ronaldo found a way to respond in the 33rd minute.

The Portuguese forward was awarded a penalty after being taken out in the box by PSG goalkeeper Keylor Navas, and he dusted himself down before slotting the spot-kick away to level the scores.

Ronaldo added a second just before half-time to equalise again after Marquinhos had restored PSG’s lead, this time turning in from close range after his initial header had hit the post.
