Lionel Messi and Alexia Putellas were named the Menâs and Womenâs Player of the Year for 2022 at the Fifa Best Awards on Monday.
Despite an ACL injury in July, the Barcelona captain won the honour for a consecutive time after leading her club to a perfect league record and finished as the 2021/22 Womenâs Champions League top scorer (11 goals).
Messi, meanwhile, helped Argentina win World Cup glory with seven goals and picked up his 77th individual award in football.
The Polish amputeeâs scissor kick for Warta Poznan beat out some top talent for the award, edging Marseilleâs Dimitri Payet and Brazilâs Richarlison.
