Inter Miami have work to do in the away leg of their CONCACAF Champions Cup quarter-final tie after they were beaten at home by Monterrey on Wednesday.
Lionel Messi was injured and had to watch the game from the stands, but Luis Suårez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba all started for the Herons, and all was going swimmingly when Tomås Avilés gave them a first half lead.
But a red card for David Ruiz changed the game in the 65th-minute, and the Mexican visitors soon equalised in bizarre fashion, when Busquets almost scored an own goal, before Maximiliano Meza tucked home the rebound.
Rayados werenât done there, and in the 89th-minute they got a superb winner, when a loose ball on the edge of the box was curled into the top corner by Jorge RodriguĂ©z for 2-1.
Inter will hope to have their captain Messi back for the second leg in seven days time.
