AC Milan never agreed a price with AS Roma for Alexis Saelemaekers in the summer, and it is looking like it was a wise move to abstain.

According to Il Messaggero (via MilanNews), Roma’s main focus at the moment is on identifying Claudio Ranieri’s replacement. The choice of head coach will then influence some decisions related to the squad.

Regardless of who the manager will be, some situations can already be addressed and one of these concerns the future of Saelemaekers. The Belgian arrived on loan from Milan last summer and has had an excellent impact, especially in 2025.

Roma would like to keep him, but the Rossoneri have raised his price to around €20-25m. It is a significant figure that Roma would like to lower, without forgetting the link to Tammy Abraham, who headed the other way on a dry loan.

In recent weeks, Nottingham Forest have registered their interest in Saelemaekers, but the player seems to have given his preference to staying with the Giallorossi. This season, the ex-Anderlecht man has racked up six goals and five assists in 27 appearances.

It was reported that there was a verbal agreement between Roma and Milan on a valuation of €8-10m during the summer window, but now his price has more than doubled after his recent resurgence.
