Malick Yalcouyé signs with Swansea City

Malick Yalcouyé is set for a second consecutive loan move. Unable to break into Brighton’s first team, the Premier League club has decided to send him on loan to Swansea City. With this move, he becomes only the second Ivorian to play for the Welsh side after Wilfried Bony.
Under contract until 2029, the Ivorian U23 international will have to wait a bit longer before donning the Seagulls’ shirt. After a successful loan spell at Sturm Graz, where he made 37 appearances last season (scoring 4 goals and providing 2 assists), the 19-year-old midfielder will now test himself in the Championship. He joins Swansea City on a season-long loan.
The English second-tier club announced the news on its official X account: “Swansea City is delighted to confirm the signing of Malick Yalcouyé on loan for the 2025-26 season, subject to international clearance and visa approval,” the statement read.
Swansea head coach Alan Sheehan expressed his delight at the signing: “We’re very happy to bring Malick to Swansea City. We’ll look to integrate him into the squad as quickly as possible, and we’re excited about the qualities he’ll bring to the group,” he said.
The former ASEC Mimosas player arrived in the UK in July 2024 after spending half a season in Sweden with IFK Göteborg. He was crowned Austrian champion with Sturm Graz and was named the breakout star of the Austrian Bundesliga season.
