An early peek into Mundo Deportivo’s exclusive interview with Barcelona’s new signing, Memphis Depay, brings up some interesting and positive statements to light.

When asked about his early days in the Catalan dressing room, the new signing had the following words to say:

“Everyone was very kind to me. I felt a great welcome in the dressing room and it is a feeling that makes you feel very comfortable. Of course the level of training is high, but that makes me happy because it is what I felt I needed in my next step as a professional.”

The former Olympique Lyonnais player was then asked why he chose to join Barcelona over other options. To this, he replied, “It is a great club, I think it suits my way of playing and I love this city. There are many reasons.”

Needless to say, one hopes the 27-year-old will have seamless integration with Barcelona’s squad on the pitch. In the dressing room, however, things seem to be moving positively for the new signing. Moreover, having a national team compatriot in Frenkie de Jong would be an added bonus.

The Dutch forward was announced as new recruitment on 19th June 2021 and arrived at Camp Nou on a free transfer. After a difficult exit at the Euro’s, the player joined training last week when he also had his official presentation.

The Dutch No.10 made his debut for the Blaugranas against Girona earlier this week. Coming on in the second half, the forward provided an impressive debut that included a goal from the penalty spot.
