Midfield jewel and European Championship hopeful Jamal Musiala continues to be the focus of top international clubs. Manchester City, with ex-Bayern coach Guardiola, are reportedly prepared to put a record sum on the table for the 21-year-old.

According to the British daily Independent, Manchester City have positioned themselves as the favoured club for Musiala’s signature should the player consider leaving Munich. Another report, this time from the TeamTalk portal, specifies the sum: an incredible 120 million pounds, or almost 140 million euros, could be the transfer fee, which would make Musiala the most expensive new signing in Manchester City’s history.

This sum even exceeds the 120 million euros paid for Jack Grealish, the previous record holder. This would make Musiala not only a financial milestone for City, but also the most expensive player to leave the Bundesliga and FC Bayern Munich.

Musiala’s contract expires in 2026

Musiala’s sporting importance for the German record champions is undisputed. The young DFB star is tied to Bayern until 2026. „He should become the face of FC Bayern in the future,“ Chief Sports Officer Max Eberl made clear a few weeks ago.

The aim is to extend the partnership and avoid any pressure to sell. However, if this does not succeed, the club could be forced to sell Musiala in 2025. One year before the end of his contract, such a high transfer fee would be hard to turn down.

Musiala has played a total of 24 games for Munich this season. He scored 10 goals and provided a further 6 assists. He himself is still keeping a low profile regarding a possible contract extension, but emphasises that FC Bayern is his first point of contact. Above all, he wants to be shown a sporting perspective and the chance to win titles in order to extend his contract.
