Meet Leyton Orient's celebrity supporters from top sports promoter to legendary composer | OneFootball

Despite competition from the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham, Leyton Orient boast a considerable fanbase.

The East London club have an average home attendance of nearly 8,000 in League One this season.

And they had as many as 30,000 supporters at Wembley for the 2019 FA Trophy final - an unfortunate 1-0 defeat to AFC Fylde.

Meanwhile, the O’s also have a large social media presence, with 91k followers on X (Twitter), 84k on Facebook, 74.5k on Instagram and 105.8k on TikTok.

Barry Hearn

Barry Hearn is a famous sports promoter, who became the owner of Leyton Orient after a £5 takeover in 1995.

The 75-year-old attended his first O’s game at the age of 11 and claims to be a fan of the club.

He was the manager of six-time world snooker champion Steve Davis and his company, Matchroom, later worked with the likes of Jimmy White and Ronnie O’Sullivan.

Hearn was also heavily involved in boxing, promoting British legends such as Chris Eubank, Lennox Lewis and Naseem Hamed, before handing control over to his son, Eddie.

Andrew Lloyd Webber

Andrew Lloyd Webber is a decorated composer, with three Grammys, an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, and a Brit award to his name.

His most notable work is the music for West End musicals such as The Phantom of the Opera, Cats and Jesus Christ Superstar.

Webber is a lifelong Orient supporter and has often been pictured wearing the club’s merchandise.

His brother Julian, a well-known cellist and broadcaster, is also said to be an enormous fan of the O’s.

Bob Mills

Bob Mills is a comedian and broadcaster, appearing in Doctor Who in the 1980s and presenting the daytime quiz show Win, Lose or Draw on ITV in the 1990s.

Mills also co-hosted a show on talkSPORT with Jim White, and has often discussed Orient’s fortunes on the radio.

The 66-year-old has regularly contributed to Orient’s matchday programme over the years, too.

Daniel Mays

Daniel Mays is a British actor known for appearing in several films and TV shows.

The 45-year-old has featured in the likes of Eastenders, Ashes to Ashes, Line of Duty and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Having grown up in Buckhurst Hill, less than 15 minutes away from Leyton on the Central line, Mays has always been an Orient fan.

Mays has discussed his love for the club on many occasions, naming the O’s 1-1 FA Cup draw with Arsenal as his fondest memory.

Colin Matthews

Colin Matthews is another famous composer that supports the O’s, having grown up in the area.

The 78-year-old specialises in contemporary classical music, while he is also known for his arrangements of other composers' music.
