La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have on Tuesday closed a deal for a fresh addition to the club’s midfield ranks.

The player all set to link up with Diego Simeone’s troops for the season ahead? Conor Gallagher.

The name of England international Gallagher has of course been a prominent one in the headlines in Spain’s capital across the summer to date.

As much comes amid long-standing confirmation that the 24-year-old is considered the ideal profile to reinforce the depleted engine room setup under the watch of Atlético Madrid boss Simeone.

Negotiations have in turn long been in full swing between the respective boards at the Wanda Metropolitano, and Stamford Bridge.

And, as alluded to above, on Tuesday, such talks have at last borne fruit.

As per a report from transfer insider Fabrizio Romano:

‘Conor Gallagher to Atlético Madrid, here we go! After late night exclusive news on his green light to Atléti, there’s [an] ok for his move from [the] clubs.’

Gallagher has been pencilled in to undergo a medical in Madrid on Wednesday, ahead of putting pen to paper on a five-year contract, in a transfer worth a fee in the region of €42 million.
