Media and fans react to Roman Abramovich’s final bow | OneFootball

Roman Abramovich has said his goodbyes to Chelsea, releasing a statement on the club website thanking fans and wishing Todd Boehly and the new owners well.

The reaction on social media has been overwhelming, with all manner of Chelsea related accounts pouring one out for the Russian. His arrival transformed Chelsea from a solid team which sometimes competed in Europe to a Champions League staple, and his legacy will live on in that.

We’re not quite sure how we feel about all the gushing. It’s a tricky one – he has long ties to a man who has declared an unjust and awful war on a neighbour; but as an owner he has been brilliant.

We can understand the celebration, but it still is a little uncomfortable given the war in Ukraine is raging as we write this.
