Scott McTominay is one of the most critiqued Manchester United players of recent times but no one could dispute his impact this season.
His opening goal in Unitedâs FA Cup semi-final against Coventry City made it 10 for the season for the Scot, continuing a career-best scoring season and hitting double figures for the first time in his career.
The 27-year-oldâs position has greatly changed over the years, with him predominately playing as a sitting midfielder alongside Fred for club and often in a three-man defence for country.
This season has seen him push further forward for both though to great effect, with only four players scoring more than his seven in the European Championships qualifiers and only Rasmus Højlund (13) scoring more non-penalty goals for than him for United.
His goal at Wembley was typical of his play this season, attacking the box late and arriving at the right moment to finish, this time profiting from an excellent Diogo Dalot cross.
Given he played as a striker in the youth teams and his strike rate this year, maybe he should have been put further forward a long time?
