Rangers travelled to Parkhead this afternoon for the season’s first Old Firm derby. A result would have ended Celtic’s all-win run, but the Gers failed miserably to challenge the champions of Scotland. It ended in a 4-0 humiliation for the Europa League runners-up.

Below are the Rangers players rated in their dreadful defeat against Celtic.

OneFootball Videos

Jon McLaughlin: 4

A shambolic display from the Scotsman who could have done a lot better to stop at least a couple of strikes in the first half. It got even worse late in the game when his mistake led to David Turnbull’s goal.

James Tavernier: 5

Was poor defensively as he left a lot of space behind. Offered little threat high up the pitch due to the lack of accurate crosses as well as passes into the final third.

Connor Goldson: 5

An underwhelming display from the centre-half who failed to control the game in the defensive third. His tackles were rusty and the long balls lacked accuracy.

James Sands: 5

Worked hard in deep defence, but he struggled against Celtic’s free-flowing game. Could have done better with his positioning and passing game.

Borna Barisic: 5.5

Whipped in a few crosses from the left as the Croatian tried his best to link up with Ryan Kent.  However, he found a hard time against Abada who fired in twice inside the first half.

John Lundstram: 6

Looked combative in the centre of the pitch. But the composure of Callum McGregor refrained him from building momentum. Made way for Ryan Jack late in the match.

Glen Kamara: 5

Looked off-paced in midfield. Hardly had any impact during the first half and was replaced by Scott Wright at the half-time break.

Jon McLaughlin

Steven Davis: 6

His work rate is praiseworthy, but the veteran Northern Irishman lacked the pace against a youthful Celtic midfield.

Malik Tillman: 6

Was mostly unsuccessful with his dribbling attempts. Had an effort that went wide as the young USMNT attacker failed to make a difference before making way for Scott Arfield around the hour mark.

Ryan Kent: 6

Created a few chances from the left which, however, went in vain. Ran out of ideas towards the end and was taken off for Fashion Sakala with 12 minutes remaining.

Antonio Colak: 5.5

The in-form centre-forward failed to find the target despite a few attempts against the run of play. Should have scored at least once before making way for Alfredo Morelos for the final half an hour.

Rangers Subs Vs Celtic

Scott Wright: 6

Added pace from the wide since replacing Kamara at half-time.

Alfredo Morelos: 5.5

Played for the first time since his dismissal against Hibernian. The Colombian needs to regain his rhythm before it gets too late.

Scott Arfield: 6

The Gers’ ‘super sub’ failed to make any noteworthy contribution during the final half an hour.

Fashion Sakala: 5.5

Hardly had any touches in the final third.

Ryan Jack: 5.5

Nothing exceptional from the Scotsman except for fresh legs in the middle of the pitch.
