Aston Villa entertained Lille at Villa Park earlier tonight as they looked to earn a win in the UEFA Europa Conference League earlier tonight. The Villans made a good start to the contest and scored the opening goal in the 13th minute when Ollie Watkins found the back of the net. Unai Emery’s men went into the half-time break 1-0 up on the scoreline.

John McGinn doubled Aston Villa’s advantage in the 56th minute before Bafode Diakite got a goal back for the visitors in the 84th minute. Aston Villa ended up securing a hard-fought 2-1 win in front of their home fans.

LB: Lucas Digne – 7/10

He kept things solid on the defensive third of the field and produced a decent performance at left-back.

RM: Leon Bailey – 7/10

Bailey was a real menace in the final third and did well to set up McGinn’s goal in the second half.

He was a positive influence in both halves and deserves credit for putting in a good shift defensively.

Luiz distributed the ball with conviction from midfield and managed to make some important contributions at the back as well.
