Frank McAvennie claims he’s never seen Celtic be so quiet through the summer as incoming transfers remain thin on the ground.
The Hoops icon, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insists Celtic fans need to see some action soon.
Celtic are yet to make any first team signings this summer as the club focused on appointing a manager.
Ange Postecoglou has now joined the club but he had to quarantine before being able to get to work.
In the last week, Celtic’s fixtures have been announced and the club has been selling season tickets.
McAvennie claims Celtic could be going about their transfer business quietly but he is concerned about the lack of noise from the club.
Two deals the club are working on, Football Insider has been told today by a Hoops source, is the capture of Sunderland striker Charlie Wyke and the signing of Brighton goalkeeper Mathew Ryan.
Asked about the potential captures, McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild:
“I don’t think there’s a team there at the moment,”
“I’ve never seen it so quiet, which isn’t a bad thing. Celtic are capable of going about their business quietly
“Then bang, bang, bang there’s players coming in. Get it done. Deals have to be done now.
“The fans have to know. The lot of them have been amazing, look at the season tickets that have been sold.
“They need to see something. They need to see what they are getting for their money.
“Whatever happens, something has to happen soon.”
Celtic’s domestic season starts with a trip to Tynecastle on 31st July.
The first Old Firm of the season is just three weeks later as Postecoglou faces a tough start to life as Celtic boss.
In other news, Hutton has fumed over the management of a Celtic and Rangers star on international duty.
