In a recent interview with Football Insider, Frank McAvennie reckoned that Leicester City ace James Maddison would be open to joining Newcastle United during this summer transfer period. McAvennie said,

“Would Maddison want to go to Newcastle? Of course he would.

“They’re going to spend a lot of money and bring in top players.

“But Brendan [Rodgers] will be saying to Maddison that there’s quality players at Leicester and they can go on a run again and see if they can get back up the table and challenge for European spots.

“It’s going to be interesting because there’s so many teams who will want to be challenging for European spots. Leicester is one of those teams that is going to want to be up there and fighting.“

Maddison performed at a high level for Leicester in the final third as he managed to put in a run of impressive displays while serving as an important member of Brendan Rodgers’ attack. The English sensation proved his worth in the opposition half by averaging 2.1 shots, 1.4 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He was even careful when interchanging possession with his teammates, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 80.7% in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
