Last season, Kylian Mbappé (25) and his younger brother Ethan Mbappé (17) were on the same team, both competing for Paris Saint-Germain as they retained their Ligue 1 title and reached the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League.
Both have since gone their own separate ways. Kylian left on a free transfer, departing PSG after seven years to join Real Madrid. Whilst Ethan had been in talks over a renewal at formative club PSG, the acrimonious departure of his brother threw a spanner in the works. Without signing a professional contract with Les Parisiens, Ethan left, joining Lille OSC on a free transfer.
However, whilst neither of the Mbappés remains in Paris, their city of birth, they have been brought back together by the Champions League. Real Madrid and Lille OSC will face off against each other with Los Blancos set for a trip to the Stade Pierre Mauroy for the revamped ‘League Phase’ of UEFA’s flagship club competition. Having played with each other, they are now set to play against each other.
