Real Madrid will use the final week of the transfer window to sign a new striker, with Kylian Mbappé and Valencia’s Rodrigo top of their wish list.
Los Blancos are desperate to replace the goals left by Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure earlier in the summer, and the Independent claim that the reigning European champions have zoned in on two stars.
Their story indicates that coach Julen Lopetegui has asked for a new forward before the deadline next Friday – ideally one that can play centrally.
Kylian Mbappé is the preferred target, although any deal for him would only come about should Paris Saint-Germain face Financial Fair Play regulations.
Madrid don’t want to pay more than €150m for any player, and naturally, the World Cup winner would command a fee of potentially double that in normal circumstances.
PSG find out their FFP fate later on Friday and if are found guilty of breaching the regulations, may potentially have to sell in order to get in Uefa’s good books.
A more realistic target perhaps, is Rodrigo. The Valencia man netted 16 goals in LaLiga last term with his performances doing enough to earn him a place in Spain’s World Cup squad.
Los Che have admitted that they would listen to offers for the 27-year-old, although it’s suggested that their asking price of €100m is being balked at in the capital.
