Despite initially defending well, Montpellier were reduced to 10-men after 19 minutes when goalkeeper Jonas Omlin scythed down Kylian Mbappé when through on goal.

Then the floodgates opened. Mauro Icardi somehow missed from six yards out, before Mbappé scored his first goal of 2021 after dinking substitute ‘keeper Dimitry Bertaud having been found by Ángel di María.

Mbappé was involved again for the second after Marco Verratti played a beautiful pass in behind, before crossing for Neymar who was left with a simple tap-in.

Icardi made it 3-0 moments later with a typically composed close range finish, before the Argentine squared for Mbappé who couldn’t miss an open goal from six yards.

Layvin Kurzawa hit the crossbar with an outrageous bicycle kick late on, as PSG cruised to their third successive Ligue 1 victory.
