Kylian Mbappé and Lionel Messi combined beautifully as Paris Saint-Germain came from behind to beat Saint-Étienne in Ligue 1 on Saturday evening.

Scorers: Mbappé 42′, 47′, Danilo ; Bouanga 16′

Saint-Étienne took a surprise lead at the Parc des Princes when Danilo Pereira was caught in possession on the edge of his own box, and Denis Bouanga coolly slotted past Gianluigi Donnarumma for 1-0.

But PSG levelled matters just before half-time, when Lionel Messi slipped in Kylian Mbappé with a lovely pass, and he turned and fired past the goalkeeper to equalise.

Into the second half and Messi was again the provider as Mbappé scored his second of the game to take his PSG goals tally to 156 – drawing level with Zlatan Ibrahimović in the club’s all-time scoring charts.

And Danilo then atoned for his first half error to make it 3-1 with a header from Mbappé’s cross.

That result leaves PSG 16 points clear at the top of Ligue 1,
