Maxi Biancucchi reveals cousin Lionel Messi followed Flamengo closely | OneFootball

Some players have family members that are also professional footballers that are far superior and attract unfair comparisons.

Maxi Biancucchi may have has the worst ‘luck’ of them all. While Maxi enjoyed a successful career that saw him feature at Flamengo, Paraguayan giants Olimpia, and Cruz Azul of Mexico amongst others, it was impossible to compare him to cousin Lionel Messi.

Now retired, Maxi reflected on his career in a positive light and revealed that Messi followed his matches intently while he was in Brazil.

“We don’t compare one another’s careers. At the time, we spoke a lot to each other. But, without a doubt, he followed my passage in the Brasileirão.

“He saw Flamengo, Bahia, and Vitória games. I didn’t need to say [about who it was] about Flamengo for him, he already knew how everyone did.”

Maxi was at Flamengo from 2007 to 2009 and helped the rubro-negro lift the Brasileirão title.
