Vitor Reis has now left Manchester City on loan to Girona for the 25/26 season. A loan move to the La Liga club should quickly accelerate Vitor Reis’ development as a player. Max Alleyne is another young defender who will also spend next season out on loan. Alleyne will spend the 25/26 campaign on loan at Watford. The young defender has also signed a long-term contract extension with Manchester City. His contract extension shows just how highly thought of the young defender is at the Etihad.
Max Alleyne’s loan move to Watford was confirmed earlier this week by both Manchester City and Watford. In an interview with Watford’s official website, Alleyne explained what he will offer to thrive Hornets. Max Alleyne explained: “I’m confident on the ball, can help the team build from the back and in transition, and be able to win duels and win games.”
“I’m calm, I have good vision, I’m quick and versatile. I hope I can do anything the manager needs me to do.“
“Hopefully, I offer something different to what Watford had before, something that people enjoy watching.“
Ahead of joining Watford on loan, Max Alleyne signed a contract extension with Manchester City. Simon Bajkowski of Manchester Evening News reported that Alleyne had signed on at City until 2030. Alleyne’s contract extension shows how highly regarded he is at Manchester City.
As a player, Max Alleyne is good in possession and can play on either side of defence. His game also seems suited to playing as a defensive midfielder. Alleyne is strong in a challenge and wins his fair share of duels. His skill set should translate well in the Championship. If the young defender can have a strong season at Watford it should set him up well for the next step in his career. Whether that’s at Manchester City or another loan spell at a higher level next season.
How Max Alleyne performs for Watford throughout the 25/26 season will be worth tracking. He is a promising young defender who does seem to have a bright future. His loan move to Watford is the first step of what looks to be a long career at the highest level.
