Aarons, 21, was linked with a move to Barcelona in the summer but a deal never materialised and he remains a possibility for the Red Devils.
Norwich are currently top of the Sky Bet Championship and will demand a high fee for Aarons’ signature midway through the season — but it’s probably something that will happen anyway if they secure promotion to the Premier League.
There are not many England Under-21 footballers catching Barcelona’s attention right now, so the right-back must have something special in his locker. The question is should United intensify their interest in the defender this month, like many would with a Mansion Casino promo code?
After signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka for £50m just 18-months ago, the fact United are looking for another right-back shouldn’t by any means be portrayed in such a way that the former Crystal Palace starlet has been a disappointment. He has been brilliant but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants two full-backs on either side who give him options.
Just look over at the left-back department this season. Luke Shaw has stepped up and is seen as our left-back who can deal with pressure defensively, while Alex Telles comes in to spice things up in the final third.
Wan-Bissaka has been a terrific signing, but a lack of attacking output may be what has led to Solskjaer wanting to strengthen at right-back. I also think he could offer us something in a back three, allowing for a right-back like Aarons to still feature in the team, should Solskjaer choose to operate with a 3-5-2 / 3-4-3.
The point is that another option at right-back will give the side greater balance and that’s something Solskjaer is trying to achieve.
Timothy Fosu-Mensah is close to joining Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen and that’s another player who can play right-back on his way. Not to forget Diogo Dalot out on loan with AC Milan.
Competition for places is healthy for a squad but maybe Aarons wants to go somewhere he will be starting every week. With AWB standing in the way, I doubt that would be the case at United.
