Lazio finally announced the appointment of Italian and former Juventus coach Maurizio Sarri as its new manager. Sarri officially signed off on a multi-year deal with the club on Wednesday.

For many football fans who are not regular followers of Serie A, they at the least will likely tune in to the upcoming battles between Lazio and AS Roma. This will pit a managerial tactical duel between Maurizio Sarri and Jose Mourinho.

The two have a history dating back to the Italian manager’s lone season with Chelsea.



Sarri does hold a promising career managerial record against Roma in all competitions.

As noted by Transfermarkt, Sarri has so far totaled for 11 career matches as a manager against Roma, which have come from his days with Empoli, Napoli and Juventus. Sarri holds a formidable record against the Giallorossi with four wins, two losses, and five draws.

Sarri does have a personal two-match winning streak against Roma as he won both of his meetings over the side while manager of Juventus.

Overall, Sarri sports a 1.27 points per match average in career managerial duels with Roma.
