They play tonight in order to try and turn around a 1-0 defeat to Championship side Middlesbrough, after losing the first leg of the League Cup semi final away from home.

At the end of that game barely any of the Chelsea players went over to the away fans to clap them and thank them for their efforts of traveling up to support.

Chelsea fans got annoyed with this and showed their reactions at the time.

Blues boss Pochettino has addressed this incident now in his pre-match press conference, and he has sent an apology to the fans who got annoyed that night.

In words picked up by The Guardian, Pochettino said: “We need to apologise to our fans. I can understand the players and also the fans. The players were so disappointed. So upset that you don’t want to think too much and you want to go into the dressing room and go home because you are really angry. But we need to recognise the effort of our fans.”
