Mauricio Pochettino left Chelsea on Tuesday after only one season in charge but it has already been briefed – presumably from the Argentinian’s camp – that he is interested in talking to Manchester United if they decide to sack Erik ten Hag this summer.

According to a report from The Times, Pochettino has not decided on what he wants his next career move to be – along with a suggestion the 52-year-old is throwing his hat into the ring for the United job.

Charlotte Ducker, who covers United, adds that Pochettino’s availability could appeal to INEOS.

The Premier League season concluded on Sunday, yet there’s already a managerial merry-go-round taking place following Roberto De Zerbi and Pochettino’s departures from their clubs.

It remains to be seen if United will join the managerial mix.

In turn, Brighton and Chelsea are looking for new managers, which, could shorten the list of potential options for United.

The same article from The Times claims former United coach Kieran McKenna is among the candidates Chelsea are interested in to succeed Pochettino. Others include Enzo Maresa and Thomas Frank.

Nobody jumps out as an ideal candidate and Ten Hag should be shown respect ahead of the FA Cup final against Man City on Saturday. He has a cup final to focus on and the media are having a field day speculating over his future at Old Trafford.

However, it is worth noting that United considering bringing the former Chelsea, Tottenham, Southampton, Espanyol and PSG manager to Old Trafford two years ago.

When Ten Hag was the preferred candidate.
