Mauricio Pochettino was pleased by the “professional” nature of Paris Saint-Germain’s victory over Clermont on Saturday.

Ander Herrera put the hosts on the right path with a first-half brace, before Kylian Mbappé and Idrissa Gueye wrapped up the scoring after the break.

The game at Parc des Princes also saw goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, left-back Nuno Mendes, and defensive midfielder Nathan Bitumazala all make their debuts for Les Parisiens.

“I think it was a very good performance, it was very professional,” PSG boss Pochettino said afterwards.

“I’m really happy, and I think the three points are very important for us. Three points against a very good team like Clermont gives us the confidence to work and prepare for the next game in Belgium (against Club Brugge) in the Champions League.

“Today was Nathan, Nuno and Gigio’s debuts, so I think it’s important to gain confidence and start feeling that they can help the team achieve everything we want to.”

The win saw PSG maintain their 100% start to the Ligue 1 season with five games now played.
