In just his third game in charge, Mauricio Pochettino has lifted his first trophy as Paris Saint-Germain coach.
Trophée des Champions
The Argentine didn’t manage to win anything during his time at the club as a player (and was awaiting his first as a coach too) but is already off the mark in the dugout after beating Marseille 2-1 in the Trophée des Champions.
Mauro Icardi set them on their way six minutes before half-time from a yard out as he reacted quickest to a rebound after his initial header was saved.
The woodwork denied him a swift second but with five minutes to go, the returning Neymar came off the bench to score a second from the penalty spot.
That proved to be crucial too as Marseille made things nervy with Dimitri Payet’s 89th minute goal but the Parisians held on to kickstart the Pochettino era as they mean to go on – with silverware.
