In just his third game in charge, Mauricio Pochettino has lifted his first trophy as Paris Saint-Germain coach.

PSG 2
Marseille 1
Full time

The Argentine didnโ€™t manage to win anything during his time at the club as a player (and was awaiting his first as a coach too) but is already off the mark in the dugout after beating Marseille 2-1 in the Trophรฉe des Champions.

Mauro Icardi set them on their way six minutes before half-time from a yard out as he reacted quickest to a rebound after his initial header was saved.

The woodwork denied him a swift second but with five minutes to go, the returning Neymar came off the bench to score a second from the penalty spot.

That proved to be crucial too as Marseille made things nervy with Dimitri Payetโ€™s 89th minute goal but the Parisians held on to kickstart the Pochettino era as they mean to go on โ€“ with silverware.

It is the record 10th time that the capital club have lifted this trophy.
