Mauricio Pochettino praised his Paris Saint-Germain side for a dominant second-half performance in Sunday’s win over Reims.
Midfielder Marco Verratti gave Les Parisiens the lead just before half time at the Parc des Princes.
Sergio Ramos notched his first goal for the club after the break before an own goal by Wout Faes and a rare effort from Danilo Pereira wrapped up a 4-0 victory for the hosts.
“I think we started the game well and then we made some mistakes and it was difficult to create good chances,” Pochettino said afterwards, per club media.
“In the second half we played better, we were more patient and we found a way to get past Reims’ pressure and create clear-cut chances.
“It’s always important not to concede, it’s a good thing for the team and it builds up confidence, so yes scoring and not conceding is a good thing.”
Ángel di María, Mauro Icardi and Kylian Mbappé started up front, but PSG were propelled to success by some novel goalscorers.
“It’s always good when you win and players scored who don’t usually score, so obviously it was good,” Pochettino remarked.
