Mauricio Pochettino said it was important for Paris Saint-Germain to finish the season strongly in the wake of their 4-0 win at Montpellier on Saturday.
Les Parisiens have long since wrapped up the Ligue 1 title, but still showed the requisite motivation to win at La Mosson courtesy of goals from Lionel Messi (2), Angel di María and Kylian Mbappé (penalty).
“It’s a real satisfaction, it was a very good performance,” PSG manager Pochettino said, per club media.
“I think we started the game well, we played well, I’m happy and I feel satisfied at the end of the game.
“It was important to show our status, Paris Saint-Germain deserve to celebrate this title.
“It’s important to finish this season in the best possible way. It’s just as important to finish with a good feeling, for the future of the club. ”
The game was also notable for the debut of 18-year-old winger Djeidi Gassama, who replaced di María in the closing stages.
Pochettino was delighted to give Gassama his “moment”, and is hopeful the starlet will go on to have a successful career in the French capital.
“I think that it is the future of this club, with the youngsters. He’s going to become very important, along with the other players in the academy too,”
PSG will conclude their season with a home game against Metz next Saturday.
