Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has provided a positive squad update ahead of the club’s clash with AZ Alkmaar in the Europa Conference League.

After being substituted off against Nottingham Forest due to a shoulder injury, Matty Cash is back and prepared to return for the Premier League side.

“Yes, he is ready,” said Emery. “He didn’t have a big problem. It was a small problem. He is available for tomorrow.”

The news will be welcomed by Poland as well with their crunch Euro 2024 qualifier against Czechia just over a week away.

Additionally, the 52-year-old confirmed another defender is nearing his return as Alex Moreno is “feeling very well.”

The one setback for Villa concerns Jacob Ramsey, who is still a while away from returning.

“[Ramsey?] After the international break, will be available more or less to start trying to train with the players and being close to being in the squad for matches,” said Emery.

Aston Villa currently sit second in Group E of the UECL and fifth in the Premier League.
