Juventus have announced that defender Matthijs de Ligt has underwent a successful shoulder operation in Rome.
The Dutchman had been suffering with an issue to his right shoulder in recent months.
However, he opted to put off surgery until the season ended, which is did last Friday for Juventus when they were eliminated from the Champions League by Lyon.
De Ligt went under the knife on Wednesday at the UPMC Salvator Mundi clinic in the Italian capital, with the club announcing that the operation went off without any problems.
He will now be sidelined for up to three months as he recovers.
That means he will miss the the first eight weeks of the new campaign, with Serie A due to return in mid-September.
