Matthijs de Ligt was pictured leaving the Allianz Arena with a limp and a heavily bandaged knee following Bayern Munich’s 2-1 win against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday afternoon.
Thomas Tuchel has since confirmed that De Ligt has a ligament injury in his knee but was unable to provide an update on whether or not the Dutch defender will be fit for the Rekordmeister’s Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid on Tuesday.
When asked when walking through the mixed zone whether he would be available on Tuesday, De Ligt replied: “I don’t know. We have to see.”
De Ligt was replaced by Kim Min-jae at half-time due to the knock the Dutchman took in the first half.
Via Patrick Strasser, Bayern’s Max Eberl also provided an update on De Ligt and Konrad Laimer’s injuries: “It doesn’t look too bad for both. We hope almost everyone will be available on Tuesday.” – Tuchel confirmed the latter twisted his ankle and has a capsule injury
