Matthew Ryan discusses first weeks at Roma after Barnsley friendly | OneFootball

Matthew Ryan was asked about his first weeks at Roma in the aftermath of the Giallorossi’s win over Barnsley.

The Australian keeper featured in tonight’s 4-0 victory in the first friendly on English soil.

After the match, Ryan spoke to Roma TV.

“It is important to put minutes in everyone’s legs, to work in view of the start of the season and obviously in view of the debut in the legue. It’s always good to improve your physical condition and be ready to start the season. It’s why we’re here.”

“I am very competitive and I like to win. I do everything I can to help everyone, which is why I talk to the young players, listen to them and also listen to the indications that the coach gives us, and then use all the skills that I have accumulated in my time as a footballer.”

“I use my skills to try to win matches and get to clean sheets. These are the reasons behind the person I am: I just want to win as many games as possible and it’s like that at Roma too.”

“I feel at ease here. The group is very welcoming, I’m starting to relate to all the teammates. For me it’s important, I want to help the club win as much as possible and to do this you need to create a good relationship with your teammates: understand what all the players are like in their individuality.”

“Everton? We are nearing an important match, another important step in view of the start of the season. They are obviously a good team and it will be a good match for us, to understand where we are at. It will be another opportunity to put minutes into our legs and obviously try to win in order to start the league with a victory. Even in training we try to give our best and be competitive.”
