Matteo Moretto gives Football España exclusive information on the latest deals dominating the papers in Spain, as revealed in Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing.
As we’ve been reporting all summer, somebody still has to leave Barcelona in order for them to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Club. As of today, there are no advanced negotiations for any of Barcelona’s forwards to leave, but next week we will have a better understanding of the situation. The update is that starting next week, Barcelona will move to try and reach a definitive agreement with Williams on personal terms.
At Barcelona, everyone is convinced that his signing would be a major market coup that shifts things for them both on the pitch and in the media. Real Madrid have brought in Kylian Mbappe, Barcelona wants to respond with a purchase that makes noise. As a reminder, Williams has a €58m release clause, which Athletic will demand for him to leave.
Lazio defender Mario Gila has had offers this summer, that much is true, amid talks of interest from other outlets that he had interest from Serie A, the Bundesliga, and of course most notably, Real Madrid this week, that’s according to Diario AS. But I can say that those offers were rejected for Gila, and I know that he wants to stay at Lazio this year. Real Madrid are currently focused on other matters, of course the main one being Leny Yoro, as they compete with Manchester United.
On Sunday, Gila also came out publicly to state that he is happy at Lazio in Il Messagero, even if an offer comes in from his former club in the Spanish capital.
I can reveal that even after signing a new deal with Villarreal, Filip Jorgensen is one of the two main options for Olympique Marseilles. There is already a negotiation underway between Marseilles and Villarreal, in the next week we will have much more clarity on whether the deal will go ahead or not. Meanwhile Alvaro Valles, from Las Palmas, who manager Roberto de Zerbi really likes, is also on their shortlist. These two Spanish goalkeepers are the favourites for OM.
At the moment the chain moves for goalkeepers is somewhat blocked because at Atletico Madrid, Jan Oblak has not yet received a real offer, and while Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili has interest from the Premier League, there is nothing concrete happening currently.
Matteo Moretto will be back with more transfer news in the coming days, providing exclusive information on the biggest stories in Spain and Italy.
