In the last year, Matteo Guendouzi and Milan Guendouzi both made the decision to leave FC Lorient, the club where they’d spent time developing as youth players. Matteo joined Arsenal, whilst his younger brother moved on to ES Troyes this summer.

Milan, 17, spoke to the French media about the influence his brother has on his young career.

“He’s an example for me,” Milan said (via Sport Witness). “I go to see him whenever I can. He gives me a lot of tips, follows my games. We are really close.”

Arsenal’s Guendouzi has always come off as a player who is mature beyond his years. Right from his first games for the club, he looked as comfortable as any of the older players in the squad, so much so that it’s easy to forget he only turned 20 in April.

Milan’s comments suggest the midfielder isn’t just putting on an act. He’s already inspiring the next generation of players, from his brother to others like Arsenal youngster Marcelo Flores, who admitted Guendouzi is the player he looks up to in the first team.

As Guendouzi develops and takes on more responsibility in the team, he’ll hopefully continue to be someone younger players can look up to at Arsenal and further afield.
