Mats Hummels felt Borussia Dortmund produced a near-complete performance in Saturday’s success at Arminia Bielefeld.
BVB came into the game on the back of a sobering 4-0 midweek defeat to Ajax in the Champions League.
But Emre Can converted a penalty to set Die Schwarzgelben on their way, before Hummels struck a stunning volley and Jude Bellingham finished clinically after a magnificent individual dribble.
Those goals made a late consolation for the hosts from the spot by Fabian Klos pretty irrelevant.
“We were completely focused except for a few minutes in the first half,” Hummels said afterwards, per the Dortmund website.
“We were on the ball, desperately trying to produce a response after the match against Ajax on Tuesday.
“In the first 15 minutes in particular, we kept Bielefeld penned in their own half. Then we had a period where we lost the ball a few too many times. After that, we got the game back under control.”
Centre-back Hummels’ effort, which beat goalkeeper Stefan Ortega all ends up on the stroke of half time, was his first goal of the campaign.
