Borussia Dortmund receive a boost heading into Friday’s Bundesliga game against Heidenheim with both Mats Hummels and Julian Ryerson returning to training.

Hummels (back) was replaced by Niklas Süle at half time against Bochum on Saturday afternoon and returned to training for the first time on Monday. Ryerson (ankle), who missed the game completely, also took part in training on Tuesday. According to Kicker, Felix Nmecha completed an individual running session after he took a blow to the hip and was also substituted against Bochum.

Borussia Dortmund have picked up four points from their opening two Bundesliga games against Cologne and Bochum, but Edin Terzic will be hoping to see an improvement after what’s been 180 minutes of underwhelming football. BVB went behind to Bochum on Saturday before Donyell Malen scored his second of the season to rescue a point for Die Schwarzgelben.

It’s also expected to be a busy end to the transfer window for Borussia Dortmund with the club still in the market for a striker, while Southampton’s Armel Bella-Kotchap is also a candidate for their defence.
