Matias Vecino was already thinking about returning to Inter on Thursday as the midfielder stepped up training for the new season.
The midfielder is not due back until later this month after participating in Uruguay’s run to the Copa America quarter-finals.
However, he has begun individual training in Montevideo and shared some of his exercises with his followers on Instagram.
Vecino tagged the Nerazzurri’s official account and used the hashtag ‘Forza Inter’ on the second story, underlining his continued commitment to the club.
The 27-year-old played 83 minutes of Uruguay’s first Copa America match against Ecuador, before picking up a thigh injury that ruled him out of the rest of the tournament.
Oscar Tabarez’s side ultimately lost to Peru in the last eight, succumbing 4-3 on penalties after a 0-0 draw in normal time.
Vecino scored five goals and created five assists for Inter last season and will hope he can remain an important midfielder under Antonio Conte, despite the arrivals of Stefano Sensi and Nicolò Barella.
