The hosts threatened in the opening 20 minutes with chances from Danilo and Callum Hudson-Odoi but Wolves defended well.

Reyna had a fantastic opportunity to give the the hosts the lead, a poor pass from Nelson Semedo opened up the opportunity but his effort was wide.

Wolves should’ve opened the scoring in the 26th minute, Joao Gomes’ shot from inside the box but his effort was blocked off the line by Murillo. The ball fell to Pablo Sarabia a couple yards away from goal but somehow, he did not find the back of the net.

Some individual brilliance from Matheus Cunha gave Wolves the lead.

Jose Sa collected the ball from a Nottingham Forest cross and threw the ball into Cunha, who was in his own half to begin with, the Brazilian drove towards the Forrest defence beating six players and his strike found the top corner.

Just before half time, academy graduate Morgan Gibbs-White equalised for the hosts. A header from a Nottingham Forest corner at the near post beat Sa and the teams went into the break all square.

After the interval, Forest started well and took the lead in the 58th minute. Gibbs-White heavily involved in the action again, who was tackled inside the area, but the ball dropped to Danilo who just had Sa to beat and slotted it home for the hosts.

Wolves responded just five minutes later.

Matheus Cunha got his second of the afternoon with 30 minutes left to play. Sarabia’s corner found Kilman at the back post who headed the ball across the goal. Sels got a touch on the ball but it fell to Cunha just a couple yards away, who made no mistake.

Both teams continued to try and find a winner, but it ended all square at The City Ground.

Going forward, O’Neil’s team will return to the Molineux Stadium to face high-rising Arsenal in their next fixture.

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest will travel to Merseyside to face Everton at Goodison Park.
