Mateu Morey has revealed the Borussia Dortmund squad were delighted with the appointment of Edin Terzić as head coach.
The former BVB youth coach was announced as Marco Rose’s successor in May having led the club to the DFB-Pokal as interim manager in 2021/22.
And the Spanish defender insists the players are looking forward to challenge that lies ahead next season.
Speaking to Mallorca Zeitung, Morey said: “I think I was happy, as was the whole team, when we found out he was the new coach.
“I think the club has signed some good players and we have a good squad together that can challenge for all the titles.”
But the 22-year-old knows there’s a personal battle that lies ahead in 2022/23, as he looks set to return from an injury which kept him out of the entirety of the last campaign.
Morey suffered a cruciate ligament injury during the cup victory over Holstein Kiel on 1 May 2021 and is only now fighting fit ready to return for pre-season.
“It was a very tough year for me with the injury, but that’s over and done with now.
“I am only looking forward now and need to gain the confidence I had before my injury.”
