Liverpool’s Relentless Premier League March Continues as Fulham Await

As Liverpool charge towards the Premier League title, the Anfield Index’s A-Eye Scouted podcast featuring Dave Hendrick and Karl Matchett offered a sharp-eyed look ahead to the clash with Fulham, while dissecting the broader implications of Marco Silva’s legacy, Liverpool’s form, and media perceptions of this enthralling campaign.

Fulham’s Resilience Under Marco Silva

Karl Matchett pulled no punches when assessing Fulham’s transformation under Marco Silva. “Fulham have never even been a remote consideration for relegation over the last couple of years,” he observed, pointing to the club’s stability. Hendrick echoed that sentiment, adding, “Marco Silva has done a brilliant job at Fulham,” but lamented the wider football world’s failure to recognise Silva’s achievements. “He won’t get consideration… not publicly,” said Hendrick, hinting at the Spurs job being a potential opportunity.

Matchett praised Silva’s tactical nous and development work: “A guy who develops players well, gets the most out of people, rotates a squad really well.” He went further to highlight a rare feat in the Premier League: “In the three years Fulham have been up, there’s never been an injury crisis there… and it’s not like a huge squad.”

Still, both hosts noted Silva’s past mistakes and reputation. “He can be a little bit narky… there’s a perception of him now that he’s just a bit of a prick,” Hendrick said bluntly. Yet Matchett reminded listeners Silva was “40 when all of that nonsense went on,” stressing how youth and inexperience perhaps unfairly coloured earlier perceptions of his managerial record.

Liverpool’s Record-Breaking Run

Liverpool’s current form under Arne Slot has been nothing short of historic. “We’ve only lost once this season… that was way back in September,” Hendrick noted. “We’re on a 26-match unbeaten run in the Premier League.”

With confidence surging, both pundits brushed aside any notion that this season has been a failure. “If someone had said you’re going to win the league but you’re going to be garbage in everything else—we’d have taken that,” said Hendrick, clearly fed up with attempts to diminish Liverpool’s dominance. “It’s almost like people want to use these things to diminish our achievement of winning the league… I’m repulsed hearing it from our own fan base.”

Hendrick also railed against pundit bias. “Paul Merson… said ‘they’ll deserve to win the league but they’re not one of the great Premier League winners.’ What the [ __ ] does that mean?” he snapped, referencing Liverpool’s likely 90+ point haul.

Fulham’s Tactical Threats – But Beatable

Despite praising Fulham’s coaching and structure, Matchett and Hendrick agreed that Liverpool should expect nothing less than a win. “They do deserve our respect… they are a good team… but they’re not in good form,” said Hendrick. “This is a team we should go and beat.”

Tactically, Fulham’s threat down the left flank with Antonee Robinson and Alex Iwobi drew attention. “You stop them, you can stop that team,” Hendrick affirmed. Karl Matchett added that Curtis Jones may not be the ideal right-back fill-in against such dynamic players: “It’s a different thing against Iwobi… who’s having a really good season.”

Closing In On The Title

As the episode wrapped, both pundits looked ahead to the Fulham match with optimism. “I’ll go for a 1-0 win to the Reds… a really scrappy one,” said Matchett. Hendrick quipped, “Win this weekend, it takes our magic number down to 10. Things start to get very, very exciting.”

This A-Eye Scouted episode delivers not just football insight, but unfiltered perspective—challenging media narratives, spotlighting overlooked talent, and reinforcing Liverpool’s status as England’s elite. If the Reds see off Fulham, they may have one hand firmly on the Premier League trophy.
