Former Eintracht players Branimir Hrgota and Jetro Willems are key members of Fürth’s team, but friendships will be put on ice for 90 minutes on Sunday.

Tactics

Greuther Fürth began this season primarily employing a 4-3-1-2 formation, but head coach Stefan Leitl has switched to a 4-2-3-1 in the team’s last two Bundesliga games. Former Eintracht duo Hrgota and Willems, who both helped SGE to DFB Cup glory in 2018, are integral members of Leitl’s starting line-up.

Absentees

Oliver Glasner must continue to make do without the services of injured pair Christopher Lenz and Goncalo Paciencia, while Erik Durm, Ajdin Hrustic, Filip Kostic and Martin Hinteregger are all rated doubtful.

Fürth are missing goalkeeper Sascha Burchert as well as Maximilian Bauer, Jeremy Dudziak, Nils Seufert and Dickson Abiama following positive coronavirus tests. Furthermore, Gideon Jung, Nick Viergever, Justin Hoogma and Havard Nielsen are certain to miss out, while Adrian Fein is racing to be fit in time.

One to watch: Branimir Hrgota

The 28-year-old Swedish forward was influential in helping Fürth earn promotion last season, contributing 16 goals and eight assists in 31 Bundesliga 2 outings. The captain is the Clover Leaves’ three-goal top scorer this term too.

Statistics

Eintracht are unbeaten in their last five competitive fixtures against Fürth, winning three and drawing two.

The Eagles won 3-2 the last time the teams met, on 31 March 2013.

Fürth have failed to win any of their 21 Bundesliga home games to date.
