Valencia CF played out a 1-1 draw with RCD Espanyol in a rescheduled Matchday 13 game in LALIGA EA Sports at the RCDE Stadium. Javi Puado put the home team ahead in the final stretch of the first half and Diego López equalised after the break.
The first half began with a tentative exchange between both teams, without much offensive presence until, in the 20th minute, RCD Espanyol had a shot from Javi Puado hit the crossbar.
The opposition striker would be the standout player in the attack for the home team and minutes later -after a dangerous cross from Luis Rioja that goalkeeper Joan García had blocked- at the other end he sliced a shot just wide.
Valencia CF tried to counter the Catalan side's attempts to get forward, and did so with a very clear chance for Diego López. He connected with a precise cross from Fran Pérez from the right and his shot smashed off the crossbar.
The game was open, as Stole Dimitrievski made a vital save off a one-on-one with Puado in a notable chance. Puado would, however, score the opener with a header in the 44th minute, taking advantage of a cross from Roca.
Valencia CF tried to react immediately. Dani Gómez had a one-on-one and was close to equalising, but the goalkeeper stopped his shot.
After the break, Diego López equalised quickly. The ball came from the right to the Asturian, who tucked his shot just inside the post to make it 1-1.
A winning goal almost arrived in a subsequent attack by Dani Gómez, who had a clear look in the area, but his shot went just over.
Sergi Canós tried his luck in the 75th minute with a powerful shot off target, and in the 83rd minute Diego López again had the ball in the net, but the goal would not go on the scoresheet as he was called offside.
Another disallowed goal for offside came in the 94th minute, for Dani Gómez, and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
Valencia CF will look for victory on Sunday at Mestalla against Deportivo Alavés.
