The young Bees scored early through Ashley Hay and did well to keep out their opponents for the remainder of the game, to ensure the clean sheet and the victory.
Speaking on last week's win, Brentford U21s midfielder Riley Owen said it felt good to get the three points and now we just want to continue building as a team.
He said: “The result against Coventry City was a good one and one of the things me and the boys were excited about going into the season was the prospect of being in a league."
“We played against a good team, who did well in parts but we got the important goal that won us the game which we were very happy about."
“The focus is now on a team we know will want to win against us, so we have to be ready.”
Wigan have not won any of their opening three league fixtures this season.
The Latics' most recent league game was against QPR U21s and they suffered a 3-1 defeat in that game. Despite the run of losses, they have scored in all of their games.
Tickets are available and can be purchased online now as Brentford U21s play at Wheatsheaf Park for the first time in the new season.
The club will have updates of the match against Wigan Athletic U21s on social media, as well as a match report on the official website and our new official app.
