Eddie Howe's side target a fourth competitive victory against the Blues at St. James' Park this weekend, with both clubs currently situated on 63 points in the Premier League table, and this will be the fourth time Brooks has officiated a fixture involving the Magpies this season.
Brooks, promoted to the FIFA list of international referees in 2023, took charge of United's 1-0 home win against Arsenal in November and showed a total of eight yellow cards that afternoon, booking Nick Pope, Fabian Schär, Joe Willock and Sandro Tonali.
The Leicestershire official then oversaw Newcastle's Carabao Cup semi-final first leg win against the Gunners in January and booked four players at the Emirates Stadium, including Magpies trio Tino Livramento, Joelinton and Anthony Gordon.
Appointed to referee this year's Carabao Cup final, Brooks was the man in the middle for Newcastle's 2-1 triumph against Liverpool and brandished three yellow cards at Wembley Stadium, booking Pope and Tonali.
